What is CASA ?

CASA is a not-for-profit organization serving the community. CASA Volunteers are Court Appointed Special Advocates appointed by a Judge to speak on behalf of children who come under the jurisdiction of the court because of child abuse or neglect.

All children have a right to a safe home with loving people to care for them. However, each year in Michigan, thousands of children are abused, neglected, or abandoned by their families. Over 15,000 children are removed from their homes and placed in foster care, relative care, or an institution.

 CASA of Menominee County

The mission of CASA OF MENOMINEE COUNTY is to provide quality volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children involved with family court to assure each child a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.

Making a Difference

CASA in the Community

Led by Executive Director, Faith Sandahl and Program Administrator, Kirsten Gauthier; our Volunteer Advocates are the heart of CASA.  We currently have 16 advocates and conduct training twice each year.

Are you interested in becoming an Advocate?

On May 1-2, 2021, join Menominee CASA n the National CASA/GAL Association for Children’s nationwide Walk. Run. Thrive. to raise awareness for the important work of  programs and volunteers. Through this virtual event, participants can walk or run wherever they are and at their own pace while sharing their support for our mission. Interested individuals should register through the National CASA/GAL website to receive a signature event t-shirt and be part of our nationwide movement:

This is a great way for CASA and GAL supporters nationwide to show their support for the work we do serving children and families.

Families Served in 2019

Menominee CASA advocates served 34 children. We saw 8 new kids this past year with 6 new petitions. 13 cases closed involving 27 kids and 2 were reopened.
